The Canadian Space Agency (CSA) has put out a call for photos and videos to send to Dr. Robert Thirsk. A member of Expedition 20/21, Bob Thirsk will be living and working aboard the ISS for a total of six months. He travelled to the station aboard a Soyuz rocket from the Cosmodrome in Baikonur, Kazakhstan on May 27, 2009.

Bob Thirsk made history earlier this year when Endeavour (STS-172) brought Julie Payette to the station. This marked the first occasion on which two Canadians have been in space at the same time.

Payette has since returned to Earth, leaving Dr. Thirsk with no one in orbit who can discuss how many rouges the B.C. Lions got last year, or how Tim Hortons is objectively better than Starbucks. It’s up to Canadians on the ground to pick up the slack.

From the CSA web site:

Using your cameras, cell phones, webcams, and creativity, we invite you to introduce Bob to your favourite hang-out, drop a line, or have all your friends wish him luck on video. There are countless ways to show support for Bob throughout this mission! Think of all the magnificent vistas Canada has to offer that you could share with someone who lives in a remote and confined environment.”

You can submit photos and videos to CSA here. You can also view some of Bob Thirsk’s photos taken on the ISS and photos already submitted can be viewed here.
